Platzer and Bockasjö form a JV to develop Sörreds Logistikpark together

Today Platzer is taking the next step to becoming the logistics operator it plans to be by forming a JV with Bockasjö to develop Sörreds Logistikpark. Bockasjö will act as the business developer, and Platzer will later become the owner and manager of the properties on market terms.
Last autumn, Platzer presented its new organisational structure, where the business was divided into two business areas: offices and industry/logistics. The aim was to scale up the business and be able to focus more on industrial and logistics properties. Following this, Johan Franzén was recruited as the new business area manager for industry/logistics starting on 1 April. Today, the company is taking its next developmental step in the logistics segment.
Platzer is forming a Joint Venture company (JV) with Bockasjö, where each party owns 50%. The JV company, named Sörreds Logistikpark, will initially acquire the Sörred 8:12 property from Platzer with an underlying property value of SEK 250 million. The property’s land area is 254,000 m2 with construction rights for at least 90,000 m2 GFA, which will be divided into a number of new properties before industrial and logistics buildings are subsequently built. Within the JV Bockasjö will act as the business developer and Platzer will then become the sole owner and manager of the completed properties on market terms.
Sörred Logistikpark is located in a very attractive area in Sweden’s logistics capital Gothenburg, in the middle of a cluster for industrial production and global trade with the Volvo companies as the motor. The parties plan to build customised logistics buildings and industrial facilities. The detailed development plan is complete, and coarse terracing is expected to start after the summer of 2020 with construction then starting in stages from the end of 2020. (The schedule may need to be adjusted due to the effects of the current covid-19 situation.)
“I’m very happy that we can get started on the development of our construction rights at Sörred 8:12 in Torslanda by launching Sörreds Logistikpark. Being able to do this together with Bockasjö, one of Sweden’s most reputable companies in the business development of logistics properties, means that we can fast track our industrial/logistics segment towards achieving project development that’s just as active as it is in our office segment. Just like in our other JVs with NCC and ByggGöta, this partnership will be a natural complement to our projects developed in-house,” says P-G Persson, CEO, Platzer.
“Hisingen is the most interesting logistics area in Sweden with a great need for new logistics facilities driven by the volumes that are imported and exported via Gothenburg, the largest port in the Nordic region.
Being able to continue the development of Sweden’s most interesting logistics area in collaboration with Platzer is therefore very gratifying,” says Joakim Hedin, CEO of Bockasjö and CEO of the new JV company, which is owned equally by Bockasjö and Platzer.
