Ground is breaking today, Thursday, August 11, for the construction of the most modern parcel and mixed cargo groupage terminal ever built in Sweden: PostNord’s new facility in Örebro.

“The logistics industry is handling goods in much larger quantities than ever before. Our facility will be the most modern of its kind and will serve as a reference point for similar projects in the future,” says
CEO of the Bockasjö Group, who holds the shovel together with Anders Holm, CEO of PostNord Sweden; Åsa Sigurdh, head of production development for PostNord Sweden; and Kenneth Nilsson, chairperson of the municipal board.

The powerful growth in e-commerce places new demands on the handling of goods and parcels. This is the background of the collaboration between property development company Bockasjö AB and the PostNord Group. Bockasjö is building the new terminal and parcel sorting facility that will be rented by PostNord in a long-term lease.

The new facility is strategically located in Örebro, with a total of 26,589 square meters of leasable space. It is configured as a parcel sorting facility connected to a so-called crossdocking terminal for mixed cargo groupage for optimal efficiency. Everything will be completed in August 2017 and fully operational in February 2018, following the installation of a new parcel sorting facility in the new spaces in autumn 2017.

“Bockasjö AB is a stable partner with a solid understanding of our needs in the fast-paced parcel industry. The new facility in Örebro will be an important hub in our operation,” says Anders Holm, CEO of PostNord Sweden, which has previously rented two logistics centres from Bockasjö AB outside of Helsingborg.
