BOCKASJÖ INVESTS SEK 600 MILLION AND BEGINS EXTENSIVE COOPERATION WITH SCHENKER LOGISTICS AB

Building’s surface area: 31,540 m², including offices covering 1,990 m² and a mezzanine of 4,950 m²
Building’s dimensions: Width 100 metres, length 247 metres, height 14 metres
Start of construction: 01/09/2010 with completion 12 months later

Bockasjö AB has acquired approximately 83,000 m² of land at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport from Swedavia AB to build a logistics property of a total of approximately 31,000 m² in the first stage, which will be rented by Schenker Logistics AB. The building can be extended by approximately 15,000 m².

Construction is expected to start in September this year and will be completed in the summer of 2011.

Schenker Logistics AB will unite four of its existing facilities in Gothenburg at the new property at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport as of autumn 2011. The new logistics facility is expected to employ 150-200 people.

In addition, the parties have signed a letter of intent which means that Bockasjö AB will build one or more properties of a total of approximately 60,000 m² at the northern entrance to Helsingborg next to the E6 motorway. A land agreement has been signed with the municipality of Helsingborg for the purchase of approximately 140,000 m² of land in two stages. The collaboration means that Bockasjö AB will build and own the properties and Schenker Logistics AB will rent the properties.
The estimated cost of the projects at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and Helsingborg is almost SEK 600 million covering over 100,000 m² when all of the construction plans have been completed.

The new properties are being built to comply with the Green Building standard. This standard was launched in 2004 by the EU Commission in order to provide energy-efficient buildings with a quality label. The programme is voluntary and calls for streamlining energy use in buildings in one or more technical aspects. The criteria for the Green Building label include reducing energy use in the property by 25% compared to the requirements of the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s building regulations (BBR). One of the goals of the Green Building standard is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

“We are delighted about the extensive cooperation with Schenker Logistics AB. Having the opportunity to work with one of the world’s largest logistics companies is inspiring, stimulating and proof of our competitiveness. The fact that Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is opening up for establishments in the logistics sector is very pleasing. This area is becoming increasingly noteworthy when decisions are made on where to build and establish future logistics premises in western Sweden,” says Joakim Hedin, CEO at Bockasjö AB.

“We are making a big investment in both locations and we are looking forward to a long-term cooperation with Bockasjö AB. The investment at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport will make us much more efficient and create flexibility. Gathering all of our activities in the Göteborg Landvetter Airport region is the perfect location for us and will increase our quality and service level. In the long term, we expect to employ 150 to 200 people at the facility,” says Mats Olsson, CEO of Schenker Logistics AB

“We are very happy with our cooperation with Bockasjö AB. Working with such a dynamic property development company is inspiring and helps us in our development of Airport City,” says Davis Bergström, Property Manager at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.
